The Patriot Ledger recognized Stoughton High junior Devon Rossi Benson, a lineman on the SHS football team, as one of 40 "unsung heroes" on high school football teams across the South Shore this season. Devon, wearing his 76 jersey, is pictured here. From the Patriot Ledger: [Devon] has made an impact for the Black Knights on both sides of the ball. Coach Christopher Evans said he consistently faces double-teams, and even an occasional triple-team, in the trenches. "He goes hard, never makes an excuse and shows up ready to work," Evans said. "We've had to make some adjustments up front on the offensive line and he does whatever is asked of him."

Here is a look at some 7th grade artwork at the O'Donnell Middle School. Students practiced observation drawing by looking very closely at little pumpkins. Then they practiced value scales and added value to the pumpkins (again by looking very closely at them on the tables) using both pencil and charcoal. Lastly, the students learned about color theory to choose color schemes for a watercolor resist background using crayons and watercolor.

Ms. Gaul's third grade students at the Wilkins School recently met for the first time with their kindergarten buddies in Mrs. Faria's classroom. Third grade students had chosen a book to read to their buddies and then together they colored a fall picture. Ms. Gaul's students were great role models and Mrs. Faria's kindergarteners were super excited to make a new connection at the Wilkins!

Hansen School students made cards for veterans, decorating the front of the card and writing a message inside expressing gratitude for their service. These cards were given to the Stoughton Redevelopment Authority to display for the Veterans Day parade on November 11. The Redevelopment Authority office is located across from the Town Hall, which is on the parade route. First grade students are pictured here with some of the cards that were made.

In honor of Election Day, Dawe School first graders learned about the voting process and took part in a mock election by setting up a polling location with voting booths in school. They even received "I voted" stickers! Students learned why it is important to voice their opinion by voting and how they can help their community by getting out and voting. Students also learned about when people vote and how they have to go to a polling location and cast a ballot. All of the first grade classes at the Dawe earned a compliment party and were voting on a movie to watch for the compliment party. "Monsters, Inc.", "A Bug's Life", and "101 Dalmatians" were on the ballot, and in a landslide victory, "Monsters, Inc." won! "Monsters, Inc." teaches about friendship and being open to new ideas and having a growth mindset (all part of our SEL curriculum)!
