Upcoming days off from school: There will be no school for students on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Schools are closed for a staff professional development day. Students will return to school on Wednesday, November 6. And, there is also no school on Monday, November 11, 2024 in observance of Veterans Day. The District office and school offices are also closed on Veterans Day.

As part of the C.A.R.E.S. initiative at the Wilkins School, students learn about how to best exemplify the traits of Community, Acceptance, Responsibility, Empathy, and Self Control throughout the school year. The Wilkins focused on the importance of community first this school year. Congratulations to the Wilkins students pictured here for exemplifying community spirit!
Massachusetts STEM Week takes place from October 21-25 this year. We will be highlighting examples of the great work being done in our classrooms throughout the Stoughton Public Schools focusing on areas of science, technology, engineering, and math. STEM Week is an annual statewide effort to boost the interest, awareness, and ability for all learners to envision themselves in STEM education and employment opportunities. The theme for STEM Week this year is “STEM starts now” – at any age you can learn about STEM, from our youngest learners to adult learners. SPS offers a wide variety of STEM opportunities from PreK-12. Every student in SPS takes technology and engineering each year from K-5, STEM class in grades 6-8, and then students can choose engineering or computer science pathways in addition to the many math, business, and science courses offered at SHS. All of these courses are designed to expose students to real life applications and opportunities as well as prepare them for higher education or career skills. Take a look at photos from the Community Math Day at the Wilkins School! Special guests from the Stoughton community visited classrooms at the Wilkins last week to read a math-themed book to the students and then help the students with a math-based activity. A big thank you to all of the special guests from the Stoughton Public Schools and town departments for participating and celebrating math with the Wilkins School!

Wilkins School third grade students met with their kindergarten buddies. The third graders read stories to the kindergarteners and the kindergarten students practiced their retelling skills by summarizing what they heard on each page.
During the last period of the school day on Monday, third graders at the Wilkins School went out to the front lawn and viewed the start of the solar eclipse. Students used the viewing boxes they made and also wore eclipse glasses to observe this special sight.

Congratulations to the winners of the Stoughton Talent Showcase! This entertaining night showed off the amazing talents of our own Stoughton Public Schools students with more than 20 acts split between three divisions - elementary school, middle school, and high school. The judges did not have an easy task deciding on the winners! Here are the winners in the elementary school division: 1st place - Gianna Graffeo (Wilkins/dancing); 2nd place - Anna Pritchard (Wilkins/dancing); 3rd place - Alaila Singleton (Hansen/dancing).
The Buffalo Bills may not have made it to the real Super Bowl this year, but they won the Typing Fantasy Football Super Bowl at the Wilkins School! Third, fourth, and fifth grade students in Mrs. Falcione's technology class were grouped into football teams and competed against each other in typing activities. Scores were tallied for the 10 week event, with the top four teams advancing to the playoffs.

Due to the forecasted winter storm, the Stoughton Public Schools will be CLOSED Tuesday, February 13, 2024. All schools and the district office will be closed and all after school activities on Tuesday are cancelled. This decision is based on the local National Weather Service noting that the storm is an all day event. Stay safe in the storm!
